Oh shit...
This is the bit I hate... "About Me".... How do I get around this one? This is going to be difficult!
I suppose I could just tell the truth..? But then people will think I'm a big headed, over-confident, self opinionated tosser... or I could just bend the truth a little and, maybe, come a cross as a real nice guy who just lives for his music, his guitars and entertaining people.... Yep! Option 2 is best! So, here goes...
Hi. I'm Steve (Stevie-Boy) Newton, and I am the good looking, sexy and extremely talented front man in PUNK'D - the Spirit of 1977 , the BEST punk tribute on the live circuit today!
(note to self - DON'T be a big headed, over-confident and self opinionated tosser, remember...? OK, let's try that again... )
Hi. I'm Steve (Stevie-Boy) Newton, and I am honoured to be the front man in PUNK'D - the Spirit of 1977 , arguably the BEST punk tribute on the live circuit today! (yep - that's better... a little more humble...) The band has been around for just about a year now (Dec 2005) and is going from strength to strength! What started out for me as an escape and just a bit of fun has grown into something that takes up more and more time and energy! Mind you, I'm not complaining! I absolutely LOVE it and will, no doubt, still be "punkin" when I'm 65!
Here's a picture of ME with PUNK'D!
If you haven't seen PUNK'D playing live, then you really should! We
have a great time and, hopefully, the audience does, too! Here's a little
quote from our website...
"PUNK'D are quite unlike any other live tribute you'll
ever see. Authentic, tight, colourful, charismatic and (apart from the singer)
frighteningly ugly! These guys aren't just some
"Johnny-Come-Lately-Have-A-Go" cheesy tribute band! They did their
time! They served their apprenticeships! They were there in '77 valiantly being
gobbed on for their country - and some of them haven't washed since!
Whether you're a die hard punk or not, PUNK'D provide a live show that
even the most reserved of audiences will enjoy! Great entertainment and
wonderful nostalga! Has punk matured with age? Maybe! But what the hell... It's
all rock and roll...
Without doubt, the ULTIMATE tribute to classic punk!"
Actually - when you've finished admiring (sorry... I did it again!) reading about me, why not check out the PUNK'D website (link above) or the PUNK'D MySpace page here
MORE STUFF ABOUT ME
So, what else is there to say about me? Here's what a few people who know me have said...
"...a big headed, over-confident, self opinionated tosser..." - Slob from PUNK'D
"...a self opinionated, over confident, big headed tosser..." - Dave from PUNK'D
"...an over confident, big headed, self opinionated tosser..." - Paul from PUNK'D
"...wanker...!" - Dev from PTP
Oh well, perhaps the quotes weren't such a good idea after all....
First and foremost I am a musician and I love music. My main instrument is the guitar - although I can play the keys a little - and have quite a sizable collection. I love my Gibson Les Paul and my Gibson Double Cut - but I also own Strats, a Gretch and a superb Takamine acoustic (my latest addition).
I've been playing for around 22 years and reckon I am actually starting to get somewhere! I successfully managed to change a set of strings last week and didn't slice my fingers once!!
Although I love rock and punk music, as a
player I must say my first love would be the blues. I'm also pretty
keen on playing funk stuff as well - that's where the Strats come in!
I've recently got into home recording and am gradually putting together my Opus! Some way to go yet, though...
