Phil Baxter

About Me

After begging his parents for a guitar from an early age, Phil Baxter finally got what he wanted when he had just turned 11. As the years went by, he developed a love of thrash metal and dreams of being a rock star. After several years of playing along with old Metallica albums, he decided it was time to learn to play for real, so he moved to London to study guitar full time. This had the inadvertent effect of exposing him to a wide range of music other than metal, which was very confusing for him.
Fast forward a few years down the line and he had been transformed from a lead guitarist into a singer/songwriter. No longer content to solo like a mad man for hours on end, he developed a love of songs and arrangements, a passion for chord movements and melodies & an ear for all manner of beautiful music.
2008 saw the release of Phil Baxter’s debut offering “At Last” – a 3 song EP blending jazz, funk, latin and pop to create exciting, vivid sounds with depth and energy. You can get hold of a copy through iTunes and other digital distributers. Now based in London, Phil & his band will be performing songs from the "At Last EP" along with other unreleased material. Sounds Like: Rawrip.com Editorial Review -
"...A voice that cries to God and a passion unlike any other, the hunger is almost convulsing in the words of Phil Baxter as he bends his larynx over to make some of the most lasting and uplifting acoustic jazz this side of the San Francisco uprising."

Review from Rawrip.com

"With the eagerness of Justin Timberlake and the adroitness of Phil Collins this new, young and sensational jazz performer has so much energy he could play aside Jack Johnson with Marty Pellow on back...
