I am here for Friends

About Me

I was born a poor black child in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of immigrants from Eastern Europe. I was taught at an early age the fine skill of Retail Management from a traveling toy store manager, and honed these skills throughout my youth, first at Valentine Almy Elementary in the industrial town of Cranston (now an office building...coincidence?), then Park View Junior High (Go Cougars!), and, finally, at Cranston East, where I personally helmed the Math Team to a victory at the State Finals (eat your heart out, Weird Al...I AM White and Nerdy!). My college years at George Washington are a blur...the drugs, the drink, the Chinese Food, the burgers at the Bon Apetit, and the nasty pizza at the Rat...all a distant, fuzzy memory. The women...oh, the women. Again...just a blur. I quickly joined the corporate world, and became "The Man". I've peddled toys (A la "I'm The Man" by Joe Jackson, I'm the man who sold you the hula hoop, the yoyo, kung fu, etc.), had a Target on my back, went back and worked at We "B" Toys, and, now, returned to my Rhode Island roots, managing a local CVS (Go, Woonsocket!). I currently live in Florida, so as to move as far away from Rhode Island as possible (didn't you?). I've got one daughter, almost as smart (and as much of a smartass) as I was (didn't they always try to curse you with the "I hope you have kids who are JUST like you???). I'm recently divorced after 18 years of marriage. I've had the time of my life. No, I never felt this way before. Regrets? I've had a few. Then again, too few to mention. So I won't.

My Interests

Music. Music. Music.

I'd like to meet:

Elvis Costello. Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Any remaining living member of The Beatles. Two of the non-living ones (if that's part of this question). All my heroes. All my friends from High School...the Math Team, Choir, My D & D Buddies, and all the girls I've loved before. Charlie The Unicorn. I'm presently on a quest to photograph myself with every mascot in the MLB (see my pics). This has lead to some, shall we say, interesting situations.

Music:

See Interests.

Movies:

Same ones as 25 years ago...MP & THG, NLAH, A, The Matrix Trilogy, LOTR, Field Of Dreams (There's always been Baseball, Ray...).

Television:

Sopranos (What Would Tony Soprano Do?), Boston Legal, House, other intelligently written, literate, mature shows. And South Park.

Books:

Still a Stephen King junkie...and anything that's sitting next to the john.

Heroes:

Is by David Bowie. Then, covered by The Wallflowers. The Bowie version kicked ass. The Wallflowers version kinda left me flaccid.
