GERALD R. FORD - 38th President

A tribute to a great President .... Gerald R. Ford

About Me

Gerald R. Ford - 38th President - 1974-1977. He assumed office upon the resignation of Richard M. Nixon on August 9, 1974 - who resigned as a result of the Watergate scandal & impending impeachment. Gerald R. Ford has been proven right by his courageous decision to grant the pardon to Richard Nixon. His courage was exhibited when he placed the best interests of the country before his own personal political interests - his courageous decision cost him the 1976 election. Gerald Ford was narrowly defeated by Jimmy Carter in the 1976 Presidential election. History has proven Gerald R. Ford right with the pardon action - the nation had to move on from Watergate. Gerald R. Ford was presented with the " Profiles in Courage Award " at the John F. Kennedy Library back in 2001 - for his courage granting the pardon - Senator Edward M. Kennedy & Caroline Kennedy Schlosberg presented the award to President Ford. President Ford was a common sense moderate on domestic policies, strong internationalist & consensus builder - superb leadership qualities that history has now recognized. He will always be credited for bringing honor & decency back into the Oval Office - the Presidency. President Ford's biggest accomplishment was healing the nation after a decade of trauma - Vietnam & Watergate. President Gerald R. Ford became the oldest living President in US history on November 12, 2006 - 93 years, 3 months and 29 days. Gerald R. Ford was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 14, 1913. Best wishes to President Ford for acheiving this magnificent milestone ! *** DISCLAIMER ( This webpage is in honor & tribute to this great man & President - it is not affiliated with President Ford ) ***
