For all of our lack of real success, we were a very together live band with great energy, feel - and we only 'did it real'. We had a great time doing it too. Unfortunately for us, the 'programmed-or-nothing' guys were now strutting their stuff, and 'real' was out. It was all a bit surreal for me as I had started my first professional adventure into the music world with the Berlin Blondes!!!
(B.B's had been a band who had done a lot of setting trends in the very early 80's. - programmed stuff with live playing, and samples flown in etc. during a live performance). ( all common practice now ) . Again I must say that we had a great time getting to this point When we broke up however, I was looking for a band who could cut it live,
'all musicians'.
Had I just been born at the wrong time for real! Yep

Other info : During the early to mid 80's, ('B.B's and 'The Wedding' days), I lived in a flat with some artists who were friends with 'Gilbert and George', the artists. They suggested I pose for them for some of their current shoots.
It was great meeting artists like them, and they have used a few of my images on some of their major exhibitions from '83- '84. I am in
'The Existers' and in 'Hope' from Death-Hope-Fear-Life'.
So are many other people of course, but I personally thought it was quite cool showing my wife and 4 year old boy 'me in the pics at the Tate modern' - Gilbert and George exhibition 2007.
OK... it's maybe a bit sad that I feel good about that, but I don't really give a f... .
(I also may be in 'Fear' from the same set, but it is difficult to tell as the image has been distorted so much). But again....... it's all fickle shit....
The Lover Speaks Mid to Late 80's.
No More I love you's. The original,
This was later to become a hit for Annie Lennox.
Two Albums
Album 1:'The Lover Speaks'. Recorded in La Brea A&M Studios,Los Angeles.
Produced by Jimmy Iovine, assisted by Roy Bitton of Springsteen's E street Band.
Album 2 'The Big Lie'. Recorded in La Brea A&M Studios, Los Angeles and Dave Stewart's (Eurythmics) L.A Studio
Produced By Jimmy Iovine, assisted by Dave Stewart and Daniel Lanois.
Mixed at The Power Station, Fulham, London. Never released commercially.
One single: 'No More I Love You's', - Hit all over Europe, and the lower end of the charts in the UK ( No 43). Some 'politics of music business' made sure of it's non - appearance on TOTP UK which would have seen it being a success otherwise, in the UK by the original band rather than having to wait for Anni Lennox
I played guitar on No More I love You's (the original recorded at Pathway Studios, Islington, produced by Mike Finesilver, and the master recorded in LaBrea in Los Angeles) and NOT Steve Lukather as it states on his web site.
Maybe he did some overdubs or some extra verse parts, but in the main it's me, and my riffs.
Band Line up
David Freeman : Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
Joe Hughes : Bass Guitar
Robert Farrell : Electric Guitar, Backing Vocals
Steve Creese : Drums
This takes us up to around 1987
More to come when I have time....
