About Me

I'm a down to earth, regular guy who's addicted to music.I DJ some weekends playing mostly foundation 60s to 80s reggae, ska and modern roots, but I also like to drop a bit of old soul into the mix. MC'S PLEASE NOTE, I LIKE POSITIVE UPLIFTING HIP HOP BUT I AIN'T A HIP HOP DJ!
Currently living near Newcastle Upon Tyne, one of the biggest cities in the North of England, with my rather large record collection that you can find listed in my blog(albums only at the moment). I've got the music to keep everyone dancing.
I like free thinking non-conformist people, people who accept others for who they are and don't try to change them, people who refuse to believe the BS that the media feeds to them every day.
I hate racists, people who aren't passionate about anything and follow whatever's popular like they're lemmings heading for a cliff, people who have a bad attitude about others because of their size, looks or dress sense, people who are ignorant and rude, doesn't cost a thing to be nice to others. I have no time for people who think they're better than me because they went to university while I hung out down the snooker hall. I may not be as eloquent as you, but we're on the same side right?
I also don't like people who stigmatise people with disabilities or mental health issues.
I don't have time for Rastas who use chemical drugs, eat Burger King and then claim they're a true Rasta either. Too many "fashion dreads" around these days. Delroy Wilson made a great song about you for Niney.... ALSO: If you're a skinhead and one of your favourite things is fighting then I ain't adding you. Your nethandaral mates might hail you as some sort of hero but fighting isn't big and it isn't clever. If you really must do it, go to a gym and put some gloves on.I tend to speak my mind on a lot of things. Because of this I've lost touch with some good people. I AM mellowing with time though and life's too short to fuss and fight. Basically(sorry for the cliche), I'm nice to nice people and have no time for nastiness or snobbery.
You can find me playing clubs and parties around the North East area (including Roots On Wax (RIP) and guest appearances on Stalawatt Sound. I've guested on the top lovers rock and revive sound in Leeds, CC&DC Sound System on a few occasions too. I've been one of the DJs at Mash It Up at the Lark In The Park, Islington, North London, a charity night to raise funds for the Alpha Boys School in Jamaica, where many of the great musicians from time learned their instruments.

My Interests

Music, DJing, Footy/Soccer (massive Villa fan), Drinking, Boxing, Jamaica(reading and learning about it's history, culture, food and more), Broadcasting my .. radio show and podcast, Travelling, Gigs.

I'd like to meet:

Venue owners and event promoters. Fellow DJs/musicians. Anyone into original 60s to 80s reggae, old ska, soul(northern and deep), funk, 50s R&B, OLD SCHOOL hip hop(especially UK hip hop influenced by reggae). If you eat, sleep, breathe and live music then I'd like to make your acquaintance!
Nice ladies who love old school reggae and soul music.
No offence, but I won't add white guitar indie rock bands as it's not my thing. I wish you luck still.
Pretentious middle class types who've jumped on the Studio 1 bandwagon after reading Mojo need not apply.
Others who need not apply are people who litter their profiles with excessive profanity and negativity, I ESPECIALLY WON'T ADD HIP HOP & BASHMENT ARTISTS THAT PROMOTE MATERIALISTIC IDEOLOGY AND VIOLENCE AS A WAY TO OBTAIN THINGS. I'm no angel but what's with giving people the first impression that you didn't quite manage the evolution from caveperson thing? If you're coming with intelligent lyrics then it's all good, but if you promote badness I don't deal with that u get me?
Other people that I don't like are people who try to manipulate others into their way of thinking, scientologists spring to mind.

Music:

60s to 80s Reggae (including roots, lovers, dancehall), also new reggae played in the old style or on a conscious vibe, I AM NOT INTO NEGATIVE BASHMENT THAT PROMOTES VIOLENCE AND SEXISM, trad ska(60s to now), rocksteady, dub, classic 60s to 70s soul, deep soul, southern soul, northern soul, doo wop, 50s R&B, old school hip hop, positive underground hip hop(especially UK hip hop). Television:

South Park, Trailer Park Boys, Peep Show(funniest thing for years), Shameless, Soccer AM. Don't watch much television these days. Most stuff on it is just babylon brainwashing BS

High Fidelity, The R&B Indies(A 4 part discography of every independent record label dealing in black music from the 40s to the early 80s), Rage To Survive(The Etta James Story), Chicago Soul, Sweet Soul Music, Deep Down With Dennis Brown(by Penny Reel, the UK's no.1 reggae journalist), Roots Knotty Roots(a great discography covering 1959 to 1985), Solid Foundation, Rough Guide To Reggae.

Heroes:

My Mum for bringing me here and teaching me right from wrong (God Bless), All original JA sound system men such as Coxsone, Duke Reid, King Edwards, Prince Buster. All great UK sound systems such as Duke Vin(first sound man in the UK), Saxon (UKs No.1), Fatman, Jah Shaka, Sir Coxsone et al. Old school US radio DJs such as Poppa Stoppa, John R, Hoss Allen, Dewey Phillips. Barry G, Tony Screw aka Father Downbeat, Daddy Studio from Brum. All the great singers and players of instruments who have touched my life with their works.
Everyone who has fought for equal rights and justice in this world and stands firm in the face of babylon pressure and tricks.
