Mash it Up! - Rugby Special
October 20th 2007 Lark in the Park, 60 Copenhagen street, London, N1The English and African rugby heavyweights clash in the big, comfy back-room at Lark in the Park this Saturday (well, on their big telly anyway).
And in the front room we've got the best celebration party possible - with heavyweight African sounds facing off against the very finest in upbeat, danceable reggae and straight-up, funky-assed funk from the old school.
Doors open at 7.30pm for the rugby (kick off at 8pm).
The music starts next door at 8.30pm.
We finish at 2am.
£5 is all it costs to get in.
Drinks in the venue are at pub prices. Smoking garden.
As ever, we'll give at least ten per cent of any money we make to the legendary Alpha Boys School in memory of Don Drummond, Tommy McCook and Alpha's other great, musical graduates.
Myself and DJ Evel Ken will be serving up delicious reggae, ska and funk for your musical main course.
And for added spice, we will once again be mixing in the Juju, dub and Afro-funk flavours of the Reverand Bedward himself.
The 'Mash it Up!' jukebox
Here's a sneaky preview of what you can expect to hear at the next 'Mash it Up!'Each of the selectors has kindly revealed two of their selections - though it's three for me - (promoters perks!) - and here they are for your listening pleasure:
..
I hope you like the tunes :-)
