The Moonhops

About Me

THE MOONHOPS were formed in mid-2006, initially created from an exploration and appreciation of American roots music such as blues, jazz, classic R&B, and soul music – early Jamaican recordings later became a natural part of this discovery. As a band, The Moonhops recreate and interpret the sounds of 1960s Jamaica....similar to what Jamaican artists did with American music during the same period. The Moonhops cover classic Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae tunes originally recorded throughout the 1960s. The band also reinterprets trad R&B, Soul and trad songs modulating them to the bands unique Jamaican flavour and bluesy tones. From this musical platform The Moonhops are busy at work creating new sounds and compositions.
