MISSION IGNITION

: A DEFINITION :

Summer 2006/2007

If you were to take a pinch of smooth dub/reggae, a slap of electro/booty soul, a twist of rocking d’n’b, a dollop of funky hip hop, and a smattering of sassy Afro-Latin breaks, you’d almost have a list for the recipe of 7 piece Byron Bay band, Mission Ignition…

Featuring the vocal talents of Mama Sal the mesmerising Soul/Funk Diva, DynaMo the French Femme Fatale and Tone Broker living up to his name on vox and bass, this super-crew has a huge underground sound and an overwhelming earthy feel. Add Dan Brown on Nord Electro with the wildest keys around, Guy Anderton exploding (not literally) behind the kit, Nui Moon on way-deep African congas, Ben Blay on midi sax with a virus synth, either Pat Gundersen/Jason Ferris on ultra-tasty, axe chops, plus Portuguese live engineer and all round dubmaster, Hugo Castro, then you get the full deal.

After a killer opening set and mammoth after-party jam with Fat Freddy’s Drop, dual live/soundsystem sets at Exodus, a ridiculous body-painted Lily World set at the Big Day Out, waking up the assembled crowd on sundown at the Gathering Festival, and then turning Splendour in the Grass on it’s head, Mission Ignition recorded and filmed a private concert in surround sound at Byron’s famous Island Quarry with Hugo as instigator/production manager and Tone as creative director. The gig also featured a set by roots/reggae crew Skankomatics and a fire performance by stunning hyper-pyro, Stevo Extremo. It also features visuals by MKG of Motion Factory, installation and lighting by Clint Hurrell and Sean Latham, and gorgeous, silhouette dancing by Stella and Amanda. This concert DVD, titled “Transglobal Vibes”, will be released internationally in 5.1, through Hugo’s visionary surround sound company – Sound Around.

Studio recordings are also in progress, certain remixers have already been contacted and things are looking bright for the silly season ahead. Upcoming festivals include Beats on the Beach on New Year’s Day, The Exoudus Live Festival two weeks later, the Big Day Out @ the Gold Coast and Sydney, and the Playground Weekender in March, with a small number of sideshows and supports scheduled in and around these dates. After that it’s off to Europe full-time to dig in and get set, spreading the good word and lighting up audiences as far and wide as possible. Folks, this is a heavy-weight band with a very unique flavour and loads of experience in rocking a crowd. With plenty of style, love and care, of course. People Be Ready…….

That's about Us. We Live for the Music. No Doubt About It.
