GOOD BUDDHA

Australia's Finest

About Me

THE NEW ALBUMSydney favourite sons, GOOD BUDDHA, have been working hard.Since retreating from the live scene for a while late last year they have been writing and recording like musical slaves to create unquestionably their finest music to date. From the hills behind Byron to the top floor of their warehouse in Sydney the Buddha Boys have been slaving over hot mics, strings and skins laying down their definitive brand of live roots hip-hop.The result is a surprisingly diverse LP, which captures a truly creative, experimental and musically assured moment of time in this bands history..Heavy soul-dripping seventies sonic rebellia (for want of an existing word), searing hiphop, soaring lyricism and, well, just straight up stonking funk all combine to deadly effect, making for an album that’s already generating a high level of excitement amongst the fans, critics and band alike. ‘Hit The Sky Running’ is slated for a March release in 2008. Get ready for another GB classic. THE BANDKickin’ it since 1998, GOOD BUDDHA have created some of the funkiest, most original and exciting hip-hop to come out of Australia. With two critically acclaimed albums, the formidable debut Skillathon (2001) and the follow up Futurhistrix (2004), plus three EPs under their belt, GOOD BUDDHA continue to highlight the best that Aussie hip hop has to offer. Renowned for burning up the dance floors with an invigorating mix of psychedelia, funk and roots hip hop, GOOD BUDDHA create a distinctive sound and have attracted a loyal following of fans who expect the unexpected.GOOD BUDDHA have honed their live skills with frenetic touring schedules and legendary appearances at festivals including Splendour in the Grass, the Woodford Folk Festival, Good Vibrations and the Big Day Out, together with numerous headline club gigs, and have played alongside the likes of People Under the Stairs, Ugly Duckling, The Pharcyde, Grandmaster Flash, Black Eyed Peas and Lyrics Born to name a few. Most recently the Buddhs completed their own East Coast tour where they released the Bouncin’ EP and moved dancefloors from Cairns to Tassie and back again. After only a weeks break they went back out on the “Brotherhood of Hip-Hop Mutants” tour, with Aussie legends TZU and Illzilla, playing to packed and screaming venues up and down the coast. Their live show has developed into a seamless blend of MC/DJ party starting and full band fury reminiscent of hot funk bands of the classic era.Expect to hear more from Australia’s favourite sons as they prepare to drop their latest long player, some collectible vinyl treats, and take their blistering live show to as many receptive heads as possible the world over..
