Marcus for the blueprint, Che for the tactical element, Fidel for the living legacy, Nelson for the perserverence, Ida B and Anna Julia for your insistence on Black women having their say, Harriet for the threat..., Mau Mau women's movement..., Zora my homegirl(Sanford-Eatonville-Orlando) for being a natural anthropological genius, for paving the way for other country-culture-loving folks like me! Leonardo(R.I.P) for making me laugh and smile(even when I don't want to!) Aqil the Shadee Bastard (R.I.P.) for having my back! Kokahvah for being that sistah, mama, auntie, friend, mentor and stand-in godmother. Osunlade(Torkwase) for showing this country girl that African dance and culture has unlimited possiblity. Sistah O for always being there for me & keeping the drum alive! Shalewa for sharing and surpassing even herself in this dance thing! You continue to inspire me in so many ways! Minnie for sharing her gift, Donnie for allowing us to feel him for a short time, Stevie for continuing...giving us hope that gooood music will rear its head!
