..Brooklyn based, Movement for the Urban Village (MUV) is both a dance company and a concept. A synthesis of the techniques and traditions of the social and spiritual dances of the African Diaspora and the immediacy of contemporary performance, MUV is ancient modern dance. Inherent in this concept is the intention that the work function as an instrument of creative expression, a modality for healing and a means of release not only for those dancing it but also for all who encounter it...

It is all about Aretha! I have recently reconnected with the greatness of the Queen of Soul.Life Favorites... Chaka Khan, Roberta Flack, Minnie Ripperton, Stevie Wonder (I got a ticket!), Nina Simone, Bob Marley, John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Funkadelic, Parliament and all variations and Jazz Inflected Electronic Music/Contemporary Disco(aka Club/Underground Deep House/GOOD Dance Music)...Other favorites include Me'shell Ndege'Ocello, Common, De La Soul, Fertile Ground, Erykah Badu, Amp Fiddler, Julie Dexter, Oumou Sangare, Ali Farka Toure, Peven Everett, Fela, Wunmi and Imani Uzuri.
