Programming drums since he was nine years old, Phil learned to mix electronic music and programming with real played instruments. He studied drums in Duesseldorf, Germany and latinpercussion in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He also joined private lessons with world-top-percussionists like Bashiri Johnson, Luis Conte & Giovanni Hidalgo. Playing several instruments – percussion, drums, bass, keys – and having an enormous knowledge of traditional Afro Cuban, Brazilian and African music, he creates his own vibrant dance beat.
Raw Artistic Soul music lifts borders between genres and has a unique defined sound, drawing from fat house-beats, timeless good funk, warm soul, driving afrobeats, virtuous jazz vibes and skillful deep song intimacy.
In 2005 his worldwide acclaimed magical debut album “What About Love†was released on GOGO Music. The beautiful musical tapestry of contemporary worldly grooves combining sounds from cultures from Spanish, Yoruban through to Shona, Bemba and English.
Many singles followed in 2006, like the very funky "Zaab", last years disco/jazz fused WMC hit “Miami Theme", the infectious south-amercian tune "Fela Brasil", or the acclaimed single "Oya O" featuring vocal Icon Wunmi.
With the soulful smash “Keep On Shining†featuring his new discovery John Gibbons, number #1 on the ultra-credible download-platform Traxsource was hit within shortest time.
He followed his path and US-Exceptional Poet Ursula Rucker whose brilliance can be heard on “The Light†became part of the Raw Artistic Family too.
