7 Wheels

Kind of funky, chillout, laidback...maybe ambient

About Me

Name: Tony Thompson.
Programming & production; plays keyboards, bass, percussion.
History: bass player with funk/reggae/rock bands in South London in the 80s; moved into recording, writing, production, including teaching Music Tech for 6 years; various odd little gigs as programmer, producer and even remixer; have done lots of tracks with singer & guitarist Brian Crisp (now gigging them in Australia and working in the area of production and TV/Video themes too) and currently producing tracks for Craig Hamilton - a really talented writer.
This is my own stuff. I've been wanting to get some things together with a more chilled feel for quite some time and I think I've happened on a feel that suits me.
Like the tracks? Buy them from Beats Digital or Soundclick!
I'm also very into complementary therapies and I am a working practitioner of the Japanese healing art of Reiki, which is these days pretty much as important to me as the music. The 7 Wheels are the 7 Chakras or energy points on the body.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: mightywight.net
Band Members: Tony Thompson, his bass, Logic Pro and some cool percussion from The Early Learning Centre (wicked triangle, guys) amongst other places. Enjoying collaborations with some of the interesting people I have met here on Myspace!
Speaking of which, many thanks to Trond Foss for his great guitar playing on the new mix of Mindshift. Bergen's finest rocks on!
Influences: Lots of people: dub from Tommy McCook and all those early guys (comes from living and gigging around the Brixton area in the late 70s, early 80s)... Lonnie Liston Smith... Weather Report.(particularly 'Mysterious Traveller'.. Herbie Hancock (my favourite album being 1975's 'Manchild')... Incognito... Prince... several decades of all kinds of things...if you really dislike something it's an influence too! There's something to learn from in any music.
Sounds Like: Me, Myself and I...
