About Me

THE RAGTIME MILLIONAIRES

The Ragtime Millionaires started out in the late eighties, with two guitarists (Dave Jenkin & Keith Hills) playing ragtime and blues in Cornish pubs. After building up a local reputation, they were signed up by Fellside Records and they made an album, "Making a Million" in 1993.This got excellent reviews and a fair amount of airplay, resulting in bookings at major festivals all over the U.K

Around this time Keith Hills quit the duo. He was replaced by double bass player Gerry Herbert. The music got jazzier ( a lot less Ragtime!) and a stage act with a lot more humour evolved. This line up made three further albums during the nineties and became firm blues festival favourites. They toured England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Holland, France and Spain.

In 1998, drummer Jim Shearman was added to the line up. A new album, recorded live at the Cognac Blues Passions Festival in France was released in 1999. The Millionaires continued to tour the clubs , pubs and festivals of Europe up until the summer of 2005.
Sadly, double bass player Gerry Herbert died of a heart attack in June 2005. This My Space site is dedicated to his memory, a great bass player, singer (and composer on My Old Clock) and a lovely bloke. Gerry was impossible to replace.

So that was the end of The Ragtime Millionaires. Guitar player Dave Jenkin now does solo gigs and occasionally puts together various line-ups under the name "Hard Time Millionaires".
