About Me

"Kerensa is an assured & devistatingly skillful Hammered Dulcimer player who delivers a performance that is innovative, energetic & confident. And who would expect anything less since she has learnt from the masters! In her early days, she recieved expert tuition from Jim Couza & Maclaine Colston, both considered by many to be the best players of the Hammered Dulcimer of their generations. Kerensa has taken their teachings & has developed her own unique playing style that captivates audiences wherever she performs."People probably still remember me best for my early work with Tim van Eyken & the Acoustic Youth Band, Evolving tradition etc. They were great times & it was back then that I realised my first true love - music!!! (Sound tacky I know, but it's true!)Since moving to Cornwall, I have taken a lot of time out to bring up my gorgeous children, but now they are settled into school & developing an interest in music themselves! I am looking forward to getting really involved in music again & am very excited about what the future might hold! The past few years have given me the opportunity to rediscover my roots & delve into a wealth of Cornish music & song. What, Cornish music??? Yes, it does exist & it's fantastic!!! There is so much great material - old & new (I've even been inspired to start writing myself!) I have been lucky enough to play with some fantastic musicians including fiddle player/songwriter Chris James in Cornish band 'Ahanan' & more recently as 1 half of a duo with the amazing singer/sonwriter Steve Hunt.In 2008 I am concentrating on the launch of 'Leski' a newly formed duo in which I play alongside fiddle player / singer Richard Trethewey. We kind of got forced together for a 1 off charity gig last year & the feedback we recieved was overwhelming! We havce just finished recording our debut album which will be available in early June. For more info. visit 'Leski' in my top friends. I also still do solo gigs, play with Viola player Jen Dyer (particularly for weddings etc) & the occasional thing with Steve Hunt (who is now playing for Cornish band Dalla - check them out in my top friends too!) & Kim Guy (from Elowen - can also be found in my top friends).I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
