Tobias Stenkjaer was born to sing. At the tender age of 6, he started playing the streets of Copenhagen, drawing attention from the crowds with his big voice and diminutive appearance. Years later, at age 13, he was spotted by a girl working at a major record label, and eventually signed his first record deal with EMI.
From 1999-2000, Tobias wrote and recorded his first album, and in 2001 the album was released to great critical acclaim. The following tour, which included some of the biggest festivals in Scandinavia, showcased an already accomplished artist, whose young age promised years of albums still to come.
After the tour, Tobias chose to scale down his music career and focused his attention ..ing high school. Tobias felt that too much effort was going into promoting him as a teen idol, and not as a songwriter and musician, so, after careful consideration Tobias chose not to renegotiate his contract with EMI.
Since then, a lot has changed. The boy is now a man who has allowed himself and his music to mature. The forthcoming album, “Blissfully Unawareâ€, deals with the pain of losing our loved ones, of letting go of the past and embracing the future.
On the album Tobias infuses the country genre with a healthy dose of pop sensibility, in an intriguing landscape of beautiful vocals, soaring acoustics, and rocking roots.
