Founded in 1999, Wide Awake Films is a unique content and production company that combines a passion for history with cutting-edge technical and creative skills. Company founders Shane Seley and Robert Lee Hodge are a reflection of this technological-historical combination: Shane is a superb cinematographer and editor who has worked on projects for Nickelodeon, Jiffy Lube, AT&T, Sprint/Nextel, ABC Sports, the Oklahoma History Center, the Tennessee Civil War Museum, the Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War Museum in Indianapolis, and much more. Rob Hodge is one of the world's best-known Civil War re-enactors (his re-enactment photo graces the cover of Tony Horwitz's best-selling "Confederates in the Attic"), and his knowledge of the War Between the States and all things 19th-century is unsurpassed. Along with third partner Ed Leydecker, Rob and Shane have produced a library of Civil War documentaries that have received accolades from publications such as Video Librarian and Video Journal, numerous Civil War media, historians and educators, and a legion of history fans nationwide.

My Interests

Visit our neighbors and friends, the Steamboat Arabia Museum, in Kansas City, Mo., or online at www.1856.com . If you are interested in 19th-century merchandise, tools and fashion, this exhumed ship is the mother lode!

I'd like to meet:

Photographer extraordinaire Bob Szabo traveled with Wide Awake's Matt Hawley to Wilson's Creek National Battlefield in Springfield, Missouri, for living history events August 5-6. See the corresponding blog for a handful of photos from the weekend.

Photographer Bob Szabo was at it again August 11 and 12, at our "Bad Blood" shoot here in Missouri, but this time he captured portraits of our actors and actresses using the wet plate collodian process and enlisting the help of living history consultants Gregg Higgenbotham and Dave Bears, along with stylist Christina Clariday. For more Bob Szabo images from the "Bad Blood" shoot, see our blog above. For more Szabo, go to www.robertszabo.com
