About Me

the afro-german vocalist of nigerian origin, TAYO Jessica Awosusi, sings with her warm soulful voice and brings a mixture of soul, funk & jazz. she sings not only in english but also in german and romanes, which is the language of the minority sinti and roma (gypsy).
the musical home of her parents is in soul & funk music, and so are the influences of TAYOs musical background.
the daughter of the funk&soul guitarist hope awosusi, grew up in a home where music was lived as a part of the culture and so music became a part of TAYO.
TAYOs mother, Anita Awosusi, a member of the minority of sinti also was an influence for the artist through the individual confrontation of music and roots.
with the age of 9 TAYO stepped on stage for the first time while she was a guest singer for the Funky Breeze Band which also has been an opener for the Ohio Players and performed on the same stage as soul singer Chaka Khan.
in her live performance TAYO shows the different sides that are part of her origin. since her home is in different cultures the singer and songwriter knows how to perform in english, german and romanes.
Since a lot of people on my space keep asking me about the movie "Fullmetal Alchemist - the Conqueror of Shamballa"I decided to add this videoclip.
It is a clip from the Fullmetal Alchemist movie.
I recorded this song "Kelas" (means: LetÂ´s dance) for the movie in my motherÂ´s language "romanes" (the language of sinti and roma) with one of the greatest guitarists "Ferenc Snetberger"! Enjoy!
