Yung Millz comes from a musical family, and his early influences came from home. His father and mother both were part of the hip-hop scene of the late 80’s and early 90’s. His father was a DJ/rapper, and he was known to throw the meanest parties, they were so well known that the movie "House Party" was based on the parties they threw and this gave "Kid n Play" (who knew and grew up with Millz's father) a help in the start to their careers. Yung Millz's mother went to school with "Pepa" from the Pioneer rap group "Salt n Pepa", His brother, Sonne Black, is also a major inspiration to Yung Millz. At twelve years old, he heard Sonne Black rap, which sparked his interest to get into writing and rapping also. Yung Millz has hip-hop in his blood.
Yung Millz is a talented individual, and he shines on every song he gets on, whether it is with other artists or his own on solo tracks. However, what sets him apart from others trying to break into the music industry is his willingness to work hard and “go-getter†mentality. He already knows he was made for hip-hop, now he just has to show the rest of the world. Get ready, because Yung Millz is…
Q&A’s: What you know ‘bout me?
Q: How did you get your name, Yung Millz?
A: “Yung†came from the fact that I was basically the youngest out of the crew I used to chill with growing up. The second part of my name, “Millz,†came later, and I added that on because of my desire to make money and they say that u speak things into existance so thats where it came from and so my parents wouldn’t have to work so hard to provide for me and my brothers.
Q: Why MySpace?
A: MySpace is a great networking tool, especially if you are an up and coming artist trying to get exposure and get your music heard. It’s a great way to connect with others that are serious about their craft and people who just love music in general. I listen to all the feedback that I get on MySpace because at the end of the day, music is really all about relating your personal thoughts and experiences with others.
Q: What projects are you working on?
A: Currently, I’m featured on tracks with, Sonne Black,DNA and Sour D, Young Don, and some rappers from my hometown Queens and some rappers from California . I’m planning on releasing a mixtape in the near future entitled “Make Change,†so look out for that hitting the streets soon.
