Composer, Musician

About Me

I think I have drifted through every musical style in the history of Mankind, ( personkind perhaps, or am I getting a bit Californian ) as I have always been interested in almost every sort of music from pop to the musicals and the classics, I would love to get into film /soundtrack writing but it is of course like every other part of the music world highly competitive. I am very much a composer, though I play live quite often. At the moment I play live with a band called Elephant shelf who are quite busy at the moment. I play the ocassional self-penned number and tunes I have co-written with Vicky Martin Leader of Elephant Shelf. I have also started sharing some vocal duties live too.I will also be perfoming more of my own material as Glass Cage live in near future I also used to play with lady in a previous incarnation as you can see in my slide show. You can hear more of my music here www.glass-cage.com and at www.lovemymusic.com
I play keyboards, Violin, Guitars, and vocals.
I am looking to put together a live outfit that will play under the name Diana Stone's Glass Cage and I have some musicians that I can borrow so hopefully I will be able to do that in the not too distant future. I am also a Delta Lady I live in Battersea in London by the river, I moved here a long time ago when it was not remotely trendy at all and its OK when the sunshines.
The Equipment used on the tracks you are hearing is: Korg 01/Wfd, Korg MonoPoly,(venerable old synth),Yamaha digital Piano and Roland SP 505 sampler,Korg X50 plus other bits and bobs. Guitars of various sorts, electric and accoustic and occasional violin electric and accoustic
All instruments played by the lovely me of course !
I am occasionally available for sessions or depping in the London area. More details here. www.dimedia.co.uk www.dimedia.co.uk/Audio.html Skype Me!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: glass-cage.com
Band Members:Just me, and anyone I can borrow in live performance.I hope to change that in the future by borrowing from a pool of musicians that I know.I am also interested in working with other players, but I do have a very busy schedule with the shelf.
Chiefly I would like a vocalist as my voice is not that strong in live performance so I need to get off my arse and start sorting that out but its a real pain auditioning, quirky is good and it would only be occasional gigs as I have so much work on with the Elephant Shelf mob.
Any one interested can email me here [email protected] It would be a duo basically, so if you played an instrument as well that would be cool.

Influences:Just about everyone. A little bit of everything, just missed being a child of the sixty’s, so lots of early prog rock, but also a lot of folk, a bit of jazz, and anything slightly off the beaten track.

I have also been told to include IBDY in the list a very ancient San Fransisco Band in this list, and I had actually forgotten about them. But I do recall them from stuff I taped from the radio a least a thousand years ago. I also like Arvo who I know very little about but is rather good. There is some sound thinking

Sounds Like:
I have been told I sound a little like some of the following: Sigur Ros,Mew,Dubstar,Anthony and the Johnsons,Gong,Pink Floyd,Neal Young,Fairport Convention,REM if thats confusing I am not trying hard enough. I dont sound at all like Elephant Shelf though.
Any lyric writers/co-writers out there that would like to contribute ? It would also be great to hear from anyone that is interested in writing songs with me even if you are not wishing to perform live. Perhaps you might want to record or appear in a video. Its easy to collaborate across the web by sending your recorded parts to be dropped in to a track.

Well things seem to be taking  somewhat of a downturn at the moment, and my cunning plan is not seeming so cunning... Still I must try not to panic.
