I managed to not only live through the horrible attack, but was able to actually catch the criminal when he walked into my place of employment one month later. During the assault, I had left valuable evidence in his vehicle to link me to having been there...not knowing if I might end up being killed by the perpetrator. That evidence was still there the night he was apprehended. When the culprit decided he was not happy with the sentence he received in a Plea Bargain, he demanded a jury trial. I was forced to prove that his allegations of us having been on a 'date' were false, or he would be released. It would be necessary to outsmart him and his ruthless attorney and I managed to come up with a brilliant plan. The D.A. put that plan into action, and the jury decided that the suspect was lying, giving him a much longer sentence than he had originally accepted in the Plea Agreement. --------------------The perpetrator has spent the last 22 years behind bars...exactly where he needs to be. I was successful in having his parole revoked twice, but he is scheduled to receive a MANDATORY RELEASE on January 12, 2008. He will be under SIPS until January 12, 2035. He undoubtedly will be released in Houston, Texas, as that is where his family resided at the time of the attack.
MyHotComments **********************My attempt at CIVIL COMMITTMENT (SINCE HE IS/WAS A SUSPECT IN AT LEAST 30 OTHER UNSOLVED RAPES) for him have been refused...there being insufficient evidence...he WILL be released. ------------------------------- More recently, I have become involved with various crime victims groups, went on to become a Private Investigator, work with the local Law Enforcement agencies,and do speaking engagements about the contents of my book. -------------------------------- The screenplay is in the process of being revised, and I am working to get it made into a feature film...something I did might prove to be helpful for someone else caught in the same situation - to save their life or to make sure that the proper justice is served to the criminal involved. ------------------------------- I like to spend my quiet time either reading a good book or playing Texas Hold-em on the computer.
