Heather Morgan & The Company Of Men

Alt.country-soul, western swing, singer-songwriter

About Me

Timeless. A word a little over used these days perhaps, one often ill applied, but in Heather Morgan's case extremely apt and well fitting. An incredibly versatile singer-songwriter with a soaring voice and song writing style that variously tips its hat to the traditions of country, jazz, bluegrass, folk and blues influences, yet remains beyond the grip of genre. Indeed it has been said that the best music being made today has a hybrid quality. A collage of all that has come before with new life born into its recombination. Not bound by trends, time, pretence or judgement, but a flow of history. Songs of lost love, blue hued and whiskey soaked; Murder Ballads combed from forgotten stories long past; roots rock; up tempo swing numbers recalling the the great jazz age; R&B tinged country-soul, all combine, heart-felt and true, to take the listener on a journey through the emotional spectrum.
These varied influences, this musical spectrum, both forms and INforms Heather's unique voice rather than scatters it. Heather's song writing has received international accolades and has drawn comparisons to such luminaries as Lucinda Williams, Gram Parsons, Ryans Adams, Leon Russell, yet her style remains uniquely her own.In harmony with this protean song crafting is Heather's vocal style itself; a lovely silver fluid voice supporting what each song demands, whether sweet and intimate, pure and clear, powerful and strong, light hearted and fun, dark and introspective.
She is supported in live performance by her band The Company of Men. A collective of highly talented musicians including multi-instrumentalists Nichol Robertson and Rob Fenton, seasoned stand-up diva Rachel Melas and "the most charming man in show business" Cam Giroux; all of whom lend their own unique and skilled musical voice to bring you music that is emotive AND entertaining!
"Heather Morgan is a great songwriter, charting complex emotional landscapes with a few deft simple phrases. In my opinion her country-soul songs...are in league with those of Lucinda Williams and Ryan Adams. Like those artists she's a natural, an original and unmistakably distinctive." -Howard Druckman, music journalist (Chart Magazine, EYE Weekly, Umbrella Music, SOCAN)
