It all starts a few years ago with three friends spinning records and jamming in a garage space somewhere in suburban Finland.CapeNape is the Host and Resident Ring Leader of these Jam Sessions held at his Mother and Father’s House. His singing is inspired by the Jamaican Reggae and Singjay Tradition as well as his Punjabi Roots. He also writes raps in the style of Hip-Hop’s early 90’s greats. JOUNI KARI behind the Keyboards brings in heavy Jazz flavour and deeper aspects of Rhythm. Percussionist Extraordinaire TERO RANTANEN introduces the two to Latin Music and Afro-Cuban influence. This trio forms the the basis of THE FOUNDATION.Soon the three set up shop at Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, in 2002. Equipped with a sound proof Studio the crew further develops their Sound by Experimenting with Different Styles and various musicians. Around this time they’re introduced to british singer and song writer QUINCY LINTON. He becomes their musical mentor, co-writer and Nape’s vocal coach. They focus in on harmonies, dynamics and variations. They record everything, building up a library of sounds.A Chinese whisper starts to ricochet through town. Among the musicians dropping in for auditions is Bassman DANIEL IISKOLA. His on-point bass playing solidifies the band’s groove. You’re in! Guitarist JAAKKO MARKKANEN and a full horn section with VILLE NISSINEN on Trombone, KALEVI LOUHIVUORI on Trumpet and JUSSI PAAVOLA on Saxophone is added to the line-up. Finally drummerman JOONAS LEPPÄNEN stemming from a jazz background locks the flow with his impeccable timing.The band practices intensely, creating an diverse live repertoire. Background singers further expand the band’s live sound, as it starts to rock shows around Finland. At times the live line-up is known to balloon up to 15 musicians at a time! Exposure at festivals like the Funky Elephant and Faces establish a crowd following! till 2007 that is....2008 has been the "YEAR" for me and a lot of things has happend which is good.
