About Me

I'm Robbie Adams a Melbourne based Engineer/ Producer (i don't really like the word producer because in this modern world it has evolved into something that it never used to mean, like some heavy handed egomaniac who thinks they're more important than the artist, French people use the term realiser which I like alot more, to help take an abstract concept of a song and make it real, i think this better describes what I do). I've been in the Music Industry for about 8 years. I started my first studio position at Woodstock Studios as assistant and over the year or so I was there got to work with artists like Joe Camilleri, Renee Geyer, Vika and Linda Bull and the Dead Salesmen, under producers and engineers including Michael Letho, Tony Cohen, Victor Van Vught and Mark Ingram. After Woodstock, James Black pointed me in the direction of Martin Pullan at Edensound Mastering and I started as second engineer there, Edensound then moved to it's current location (within Metropolis Audio in South Melbourne) and I enjoyed 5 years working with Martin learning about the mastering/ critical listening process and mastering over a hundred albums for local bands. While enjoying working at Edensound I started to yearn for more and decided to "go freelance in search of excitement", it was around this time I met and started working for Paul Kosky. For the next two years I worked on "the lost" Space Like Alice Album and Killing Heidi's Present Album. I relished two years as apprentice to Andy Baldwin and barely survived two years working with Kosky. Late one night during a session for newly signed act, Flow I escaped Kosky's Boat House Of Madness and ran into the darkness in search of... er, anyway let's just say I did find excitement. Not long after that Nikki at Metrop phoned me to say some English producer is coming over to work with "one of the girls from Neighbors" called Delta. Eliot Kennedy and I worked with Delta at Metropolis on tracks for the "Innocent Eyes" Album which would go on to become a runaway success (about 10 times platinum), during the last session for these songs (an ISDN link up to Olympic Studios London) I would talk to Gary Barlow (Take That) for the first time and hints were dropped about going to work for True North. A couple of months later I was on way my to Chester to work as in-house Engineer at True North. True North is based in the Cuddington forest a quiet, relaxed, secluded, quiet, rural did I mention quiet? village in the North of England. True North had many successes during the time I was there and we worked with a lot of the UK's top pop artists which included sessions at London's Olympic and Metropolis Studios and a session at Studio Guilleume-Tell in Paris with French singer Lara Fabian. Around the time we finished Donny Osmond's Album "What I Meant To Say" I realised change was in the air and a return to Melbourne was on the horizon. I was then fortunate enough to be asked to go to Belgium to record Lara Fabian's new french album with Producer Jean-Felix Lalane in the amazing ICP Studios in Brussels. I'm currently based in Melbourne and recently done records for Telecom, Goodbye Motel, The 5 Venoms, Willow, Sir Veto and The Cheats. Loudmix & I mixed the new Look Who's Toxic EP and I mixed The Specimens album 'Jazz Brutus'. Most recently I produced Kamikaze Trio's album 'Rain On Your Parade' and I've been away in Violet Town working on a great album for The Verses. I love both types of music Country and Western and constantly wonder why Ween aren't bigger than U2.
