-- Random media quotes about TELECOM taken completely out of context
TELECOM are a four piece indie-rock band who broke onto the Melbourne live-music scene in May 2005. Utilising two guitars (Darren Levin, Nick Roe), one lead-bass player (Gregory Erdstein) and one drum kit, with included cymbals (Blake Williams), they feature ex members of several bands that both you and they have not heard of.
If you can imagine Dinosaur Jr. as a Sonic Youth cover band, trying to play the music of The Pixies while fronted by Bruce Springsteen, you must have quite an imagination. TELECOM have quite an imagination too, but they harness it for the purposes of writing music, rather than dreaming up farcical super-groups that will never exist.
Launched August 16 2006, TELECOM’s debut EP “Modern Adventures†was recorded by Robbie Adams at Metropolis Audio Studios in Melbourne. It has received airplay Australia-wide on Triple J, in Melbourne on RRR and PBS, been added to rotation on FBi in Sydney, and on college radio in the USA -- including influential Seattle station KEXP who chose lead single "Second Feature" to be the station's Song of the Day on December 7 2006. In December 2006 “Modern Adventures†also headed a list of top 10 Australian non-label releases for 2006, as put together by Ryan Egan, host of RRR's Local and/or General. TELECOM also recently featured on Triple J’s Super Request program as the “Exposed Artist of the Week†and have been profiled on ABC's JTV.
“Modern Adventures†is available now for purchase online through www.telecomlovesyou.com or in Melbourne at Greville Records, International Trash, Missing Link and Polyester Records, in Sydney at Fish Records, Paint It Black and Red Eye Records and in Adelaide at Big Star Records.
