Dan Sultan is an extraordinarily talented musician. Along with Scott Wilson guitarist and co-writer they produced their accomplished debut album “Homemade Biscuits” released in 2006 to rave reviews . The album ranges from the celebratory to heart wrenching love songs to the down and dirty. Dan and Scott went on to find the big soul band they were after building their band to include a horn section and keys producing their own style of Country Soul Rock N Roll
Dan and Scott met in Melbourne in Williamstown four years ago, Dan was taking on a Karaoke competition trying to earn some cash and Scott was having a quiet one at his local and so the story began... .

2008 was a year full of achievements , the band performed at nearly every major festival in Australia including The Byron Bay Blues Festival, The St Kilda Festival, Womadelaide, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Chill Island and The Blue Mountains Music Festival among others. Dan performed his song “Roslyn” in Federation Square for The Sorry Day celebrations to a standing ovation. The Union Of Soul Tour was next with the band supporting The John Butler Trio & The Waifs, the shows included all three artists sharing the stage to sing the legendary “From Little Things Big Things Grow”.

Paul Kelly invited Dan to contribute to the Kev Carmody tribute album “Cannot Buy My Soul” this included Dan and Scott doing their own version of “This Land is Mine”. Cannot But My Soul was later performed at the Sydney State Theatre with Paul Kelly, Kev Carmody and Miss Higgins which was later screened on SBS.

Black Arm Band then took off with Dan on board he performed alongside some of his musical peers including Archie Roach, Jimmy Little and Shane Howard. Black Arm Band saw performances across Australia including teaming up with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra where a 52 piece band accompanied Dan performing his Deadly Award winning track “Your Love is Like a Song” the show also did a one off performance in London. 2008 saw a second nomination for a Deadly Award, this time round Dan did some presenting of the awards at the Sydney Opera House. March saw an appearance on Spicks N Specks. Dan was spotted by the producers of Bran Nue Dae during his performance in Sydney and was asked to audition for the film, he was successful and later flew to Broome to start filming with actors including Geoffrey Rush..

A much anticipated 2009 is here with treats in store ... The release of the much awaited second Album due out in May, The Premiere of Bran Nue Dae, a fantastic festival circuit lined up and lots of touring Stay tuned........................

REVIEWS

"Only moments into the first track of Homemade Biscuits and it easy to see why such recognition has flowed Sultan way- His powerful musical personality erupts"- Martin Jones Rythms Magazine 2006

"The highlight of the entire weekend, however, was seeing the phenomenally talented Dan Sultan play live on three separate occasions. Dan, who is blessed with a voice like velvet, possesses a magnetic stage presence that demands the audience attention. Sunday evenings performance, accompanied by his six-piece band, would rank as one of the best gigs I have ever witnessed. It was almost as if the spirit of Elvis, Johnny Cash, James Brown and Sam Cooke were channeling through him as he brought maximum soul to the stage" -Review by Graham Blackley Beat Magazine Melbourne 4th April 2007

"Remember where you first heard Dan Sultan sing? You will. With a voice that is equal parts Archie Roach and Otis Redding, and hips that have been inherited from Elvis Presley, Sultan and band blew away all and sundry. Rarely does an important, outstanding talent introduce himself as impressively as Dan Sultan has"- By Chris Peken

Scott Wilson's work with the soon-to-be-legendary Dan Sultan is superlative. Dan, who has the type of classic soulful vocal delivery guaranteed to ignite the goose-bumps, is a likeable, confident performer adept at building the vibe to fever pitch. The audience screamed and jived as Dan whipped out some funktastic dance moves, held his guitar like it was a weapon and rode the surging wave of joyous energy pumped out by the type of band James Brown would have been proud of" by Graham Blackley
