THE VERSES
The Verses - Ella and Jesse Hoopers' new project - draws from their experience as seasoned performers, and represents a return to their roots.
Their new collection of songs displays a continued growth and evolution that belies how young these two already established artists really are. With much anticipation they are again ready to capture the ears of music lovers everywhere.
On this page you can hear exclusive demos recorded with the band in the country hamlet of Violet Town. The Verses set up recording gear in a converted 1oo year old church and set about creating their sound with friend and collaborator Robbie Adams.
Keep checking for tour dates and more info as it will be posted asap. The band are looking forward to playing some more shows towards the end of the year.
We have recently been lucky enough to have our friend Laura from the UK Create a forum for you guys to use! Check it out at http://theverses.proboards79.com/ Thanks Laura!!!!

BEAT MAGAZINE. The Verses @ The Toff in Town:
A big welcoming crowd greeted The Verses warmly on a wintry Tuesday evening eliciting a look of pleasent surprise from lead singer Ella Hooper who was clearly pleased by such a robust turnout for a 'school night'.
Perhaps it was Ella and Jesse's rock pedigree as the nucleus of former band Killing Heidi that had inspired the punters to farewell the cosy confines of the couch or maybe the buzz about The Verses became just to insistent and inspiring to ignore. Whatever the reason, we were all rewarded by the sights and sounds of six accomplished musicians whipping up mighty fine soul-rock with the type of fluidity and confidence that only comes from seasoned talent. The freindly interplay between the members of the band kept the vibe bright and breezy, with Ella refering to Jesse as 'the whip'.
It is this natural camaraderie combined with strong musicianship and plethora of memorable songs that makes The Verses such a cohesive and compelling live proposition. Ella's impressivly soulful vocal performance, engaging, unaffected personality and genuine immersion in the music ensured that she was a major draw card. Her spirited duet with that meastro of country-soul rock and roll, Dan Sultan, was one of many powerhouse highlights during a consistently exciting set.
With such talent gracing the stage, I would have been more than happy for this fine band to have played deep into the night.

INPRESS HOWZAT! ELLA GOOD
Ella Hooper could be the new Linda Ronstadt. She's a wonderful singer and undeniably sexy. With Killing Heidi taking an extended break, Ella's new musical adventures have taken a left turn, with The Verses, her new band with brother Jesse. Word is they will soon be signing a major deal.
The Verses feels real, with a genuine warmth showcasing the singer and the song. Howzat! caught the band at The Toff last week, half way through their Tuesday night residency. A highlight included a stunning duet with Dan Sultan. Dan is a powerhouse singer, but Ella matched him no worries. She's a great duet singer. Yep, Ella and Jesse hooper are back. It's 2008's most welcome return.
