About Me

Tracy Taylor is an Award winning Writer/Director from Chicago. She is also an accomplished actress that began her theater studies in high school and continued on the stage throughout college. As a writer, she has worked in radio advertising and print journalism. She is also a poet, however movies are what she knows best.

Her first produced film, "Walking on Sunshine" was the winner of a national writing competition. This film aired on BET and was subsequently nominated for a 2005 NAACP Image Award in the category of outstanding Television movie.
The film also won the 2005 Cable Positive award for Outstanding Television movie. Walking on Sunshine has toured around the country in different festivals and conferences. Taylor acted as writer, director, producer and star of the film.
Currently, Taylor is working on another film project, an educational documentary on African American Teens and their parents navigating through today's world dealing with issues such as sex and HIV/AIDS. The film will be used as national teaching tool for parents and teens throughout the United States.

Movies:

THE COLOR PURPLE! I saw it in Broadway and fell in love with it all over again. I also love, The World According to Garp, The Mosquito Coast, The Princess Bride, Beaches, The story of us, City of God, Enemy Mine, School Daze, Sex and Lucia and Breaking Up - to name a few.

Television:

BIG LOVE, Grey's Anatomy hmm, I think I like more television from back in the day. A Different World, Three's Company, Good Times, Who's the Boss, and old black and white TV shows like Patty Duke and the Honeymooners. Also a big fan of the Carol Burnett Show. And waaaay to much reality TV to be a filmmaker!

Books:

I know why the Caged Bird Sings, The Color Purple, Good Hair, Flowers in the Attic, What looks like crazy on an ordinary day. I'm getting ready to read The Princess Bride for the first time. LOVE the movie!
