Influences: Roots Funk & Blues: Emmett North Jnr - My Main Man guitar teacher from Dayton, Ohio.. I met this brother when he was hot off a world tour with Barry White and appearing on Top of The Pops with a chart act. Virtually all the chords, shapes, voicings, vamps and riffs I use in all my playing, I got from Emmett North Jnr. He gave me the inside out on the sweetest jazz, funk and grooves this side of George Benson and Earl Klugh. This guy showed me how to play cool, feel cool and look cool all at the same time. The brother was born doing it effortlessly and he still does to this day. Me? I had to practise real hard. You cats hear me whacking those Funk chops out, dancing through the 4 string voicings and sneaking a lil' blues in - and wonder why I'm the only guy in town who can do that shit? I'll tell you. My Main Man guitar teacher was Emmett North Jnr - that's why. Check him out.James Brown, Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker, Kool & The Gang, Jimmy Smith, Sam Cooke, Lonnie Smith, Grant Green, Howlin Wolf, Albert King, Elmore James, Booker T. & The MGs
