Funkbucket (we got a bucket of funk for y'all)

About Me

Video, recorded 6th August at rehearsals.
Part 2. Every now and again you get a group of musicians who can just mind read their way through a song. This is one of those moments Chris just came up with this sick guitar riff and then bingo, we had a new song written start to finish in 5 minutes! I hope Amy can remember her lyrics!
PS. Thanks to Gidge for the camera work! *NEW video, recorded 6th August at rehearsals. Part 1 Kicks the whole session off with an ill one note Jam.. ENJOY!
About Funk Bucket
Part 1:
Originally formed in the summer of 2003 as the Off The Hook house band under the name the G-Notes. Their first gig was at the now famous Five Lamps Bar and Grill. Rocking out covers from the likes of The Meters & Jimmy Smith only a month after their first rehearsal. The band were well recieved and a number of gigs followed. However as Off the Hook found itself without a venue and it's team of promoters moved to new pastures, the House band was without a House! This combined with the loose policy of being a "collective" with members free to come and go The G-Notes played it's final finalle and bowed out!
Part 2: With only three remaining members Funk Bucket was born! Retaining the previous policy of being a collective and open to collaboration, the band have been subject to a few line up changes (more on that later) but has always retained a dedicated core of musicians.
Collaborations have included: -A run of monthly gigs providing backing for the raunchy sounds of Daisy B
-Performing compositions by Diveno at his multimedia degree show along side the awesome talents of Dwaine, Rukus, Sarai Jazz, and Native.
-Rocking out onstage with Blade for the after eight charity event
-Providing backing for Baby J and Yogi alongside Laurrisa
-Providing backing for Ben E G Along with their other side projects, the Funk Bucket crew keep themselves busy. Regular gigs are often prone to impromtu step ups, notably scroobius pip and Mr Crowe amongst others. It's fair to say, The Bucket keep it Friendly, Funky and Fun.
Part 3: The Future The band continues as it always has settling into another line up change and looking forward to upcoming collaborations with Amy Scott. We're always looking for gigs too, so give us a shout!
One final word, from the future back to the past. We would like to give a shout out and thanks to all the past members of the band: Paul "Northern Monkey" Glassup (drums), Mark "Spen" Hasson (drums), James "Jimbo" Glew (guitar), Scott Stien (guitar/Bass), Liese "Soul Girl" Fleet (Vocals Tambourine and Ass Shaking), Alison Dixon (vocals), Perry "The Lips" Jackson (sax) and last but not least Amit "Ayzee" Zala M.C./Vocals.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: myspace.com/funkbucketeers
Band Members: Alex Blood: MC
Glenn "Gman" McGarry: Keys/Guitar/Bass
Rhys Morgans: Guitar/Bass/Vocals
Simon: Drums
Chris: Guitar
Alex "Hudson" Moitt: Turntables
Influences: All sorts,
American black music mainly, hip hop, funk, Rn'B (the BB King type as well as the Beyonce type) Soul and Disco.
Often rock a bit of Ska or Reggae too but pretty much everything we listen too makes us think "we could do that!" Also take influence from folk and Rock - Ecclectic mix of sounds
Original inspiration for starting the band came from contemporary bands such as Breakestra , Quantic Soul Orchestra The Dap-Kings and The New Mastersounds. It's good to see funk music is still kept alive by live bands and not just the DJ's.
Sounds Like: A big mash up of all the music we like.
We try to switch styles that way we don't get bored and neither do our audiences!
Record Label: nope! but we would listen to any offers
Type of Label: None
