About Me

I was born on 31st January 1976 to a musical family... I've never never looked back... oh no! I discovered my voice one day on my bathroom floor... it was messy, I was 15, but over the years simply nurtured it with love. I first picked up the guitar at the age of seven, then preferred four strings in later life from the age of seventeen. Socially, I can be found at most parties in the kitchen, setting fire to my hair or dancing in the sink. Alternatively in Leeds bars such as Sela, Sandanista, HIFI, The Wardrobe and Smokestack.
I joined the now legendary funk band 'Capri' in the summer of 1998 after being a vocalist/bassist in a rock band. We continue to play & record to this day and have had several successful releases under our belts (no fart jokes... please).
Along with Capri collaborators Dan Woodward, Joe Tatton & Jim Corry, I joined the already established funk-rock band 'Jacuzzi 500' in 2003. I replaced vocalist/actor Sam Riley who fantastically plays Joy Division's Ian Curtis in 2007 film 'Control'. Jacuzzi 500 released a fantastic EP in 2006 called 'Sister'.
I decided in 2006 to set up a new band with Capri band-mate, keyboardist/vocalist Joe Tatton (also of The New Mastersounds). The aim was to produce music that both artists had written that didn't particularly fit in with their other bands. Sounds to come out of 'J-Walkers' represent a more soulful & stripped-down side of all involved which also include virtuoso drummer Andy Marshall & diverse guitarist Jonny Flockton, old friends and previous collaborators with me & Joe. I re-adopted the bass guitar for The J-Walkers.
The debut album from The J-Walkers is called 'All We Can Do' and will be available on record label GLP now from all major download stores and Amazon.
On a more personal note, I have performed as a vocalist with EMI artist Corinne Bailey Rae, Kelly Dickson (Players) and The Haggis Horns among other great talent.
I present a weekly jazz, funk and soul music radio show on Jazz Syndicate Radio ever Friday night from 10pm-12am... you can catch that on www.jazzsyndcate.co.uk
I sing, play bass and guitar in a variety of other outfits too... please see my gig listings for details.
Capri's new live album is due for release in the next few months on GLP.
I am also a label manager for GLP... please see the GLP MySpace page (below) for all the fantastic GLP artists.
