I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I grew up in County Durham, in the North-East of England, and now live and work in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I like to make art about my friends, family, popular culture and love of music. In 2005 I completed my first series of paintings called 'Dig' that were an attempt to address my family history and the artistic legacy of the mining tradition. In 2006 I completed a new painting exhibition, entitled 'Funk'd', which was based on the Leeds funk & soul scene, along with 'Enter the Haggis' - a 30 minute documentary on Leeds-based band the Haggis Horns. See part 4 of 'Enter the Haggis' below and see the rest on youtube...In 2007 I completed a large triptych painting for a Leeds-based exhibition that I organised. Entitled "Schizopolis", the exhibition opened at Holy Trinity Church on 11th September and made £500 for The Big Issue In The North Trust. See below to watch a short film on the event...To see my work go to 'view my pics' or click on the link below: The Neil Hardy Room
