About Me

Hi, I'm RouX. I'm a Jazz-Soul singer/songwriter busy building a Jazz-Soul band, The Cedars Of Lebanon, with friends Darryl Gonzalves (lead guitar), Simon Greening (sax) and Chris Hales (keyboards), Lisa Painter (trumpet)... currently auditioning for a bass player and a drummer.

Check out my website at http://rouxrenard.com and read my lyrics, check my repetoire or download some tunes! I also sing at my local Jazz Club, Bar 27, run 20 Yahoo!Groups, 28 webrings, hold down a government technical officer job and do an inordinate amount of Daddy duties in a household of seven. I'm currently putting together a demo cd. My first attempts are here on MP3 and even more at at http://rouxrenard.com

Biography:
"RouX's beginning's sound like something from 'The French Lieutenant's Woman", but fortunately he was adopted by a wonderful couple who provided him with an exceptionally loving and nurturing childhood. He was raised and educated in Dorset and Somerset in the UK. His adoptive father died in 1969. He remains very close with his adoptive mother, Madge, who is now in her nineties.RouX's met his current wife, Kay, in 2000 and is the father to four stepchildren, Charlotte, Luke, Shirelle, Rhys and their youngest daughter, Jasmine.RouX has traced some of his birth family relations, but has discovered that his birth mother, Audrey Phillips, from Devizes, Wiltshire, died many years ago at just 45 years old. RouX is continuing to search archives and registers and knock on doors, but he is yet to track down his elusive birth father, who may have been American, of Latin American origin. DNA matching suggests that RouX's real surname is Chacín and that his distant early ancestors were high priests of the Kohanim, the descendants of Aaron, brother of Moses. For most of his life RouX has been a soul music fan. Surprisingly he has only recently begun a singing career. His voice reveals both the pain and the love he has encountered in his life and his range of experiences is reflected in his vocal range, which enables him to switch effortlessly from deep sensual bass to a smooth floating falsetto.RouX is equally comfortable singing Jazz, Doo Wop, Swing, R & B, Pop, his own compositions and his main musical passion - Motown" - Tim DaintonGet Your Own! | View Slideshow

I am a free market socialist. I remember 9 million unemployed under the previous government, no minimum wage, no social chapter, no paternity leave, etc, etc, so I am happy to stand up and say, "Thanks, Tony Blair! And thanks for writing off billions of pounds of third world debt! We'll miss you."On the world stage, I hope the values and aspirations of Europe are echoed elewhere and that eventually, the EU joins up with the other big trade blocks to create a top level world government to ensure equal rights and opportunities for every person on the planet!

I just LOVE icecream by Haagen - Daz, Ben & Jerry's, etc. Also Kettle potato chips with ice-cold red-hot dips! Ice-cold Grolsch lager, or Becks, in a frosted glass! Movie-wise, if given the choice, I would probably watch (sub Wang Yu) kung fu star Kung Bun do his Buddha's Palm secret technique schlock to the "Theme from Ironside" in "Fists Of Vengeance" for the 200th time, rather than watch a more modern kung fu movie for the second time
Darkest secret ???
OK, I admit it. I still have my teddy bear.
