From the age of tiny, I remember music and singing always being in the back ground at home. Mummy singing hymns, Daddy playing Jim reeves/Bill Crosby, my sister Valerie showing off, that she can play any instrument that falls into her hands, or my brothers playing bass/guitar.
My journey really begun as a child going to church, the pastor would usually call out my name and volunteer me to sing in front of the whole congregation, I secretly enjoyed it! However I didn't enjoy whenever my Mummy had visitors over, she would call me into the lounge to sing for them, how embarrassing. Put your hands up if you experienced the same.
At age 13 I had the opportunity of recording a single for Kevin Saunderson (Inner City) for me it was a great experience. And 13 years ago I started a covers band, which has taken me all around the world, working for people such as Richard Brandson. There is nothing better then singing with a live band I'm sure you would agree.
Between all of that I had the great pleasure of being part of an original band ahead of their times - the world was not ready for "PeachStone" Acid Jazz/Soul, but watch this space!
I've also had the pleasure working with artist such as Dido, Faithless who I toured with for 2 years, to crowds as large as 45,000, Lucie Silvas, Marc Almond, Michelle Gaye, Steve Nichols (Loose ends) & J Ray Ruffin on and on....
I was approached by director Mark O'conner, who was putting on the play "The Crucible" and I was asked to play the part of "Tituba". What a challenging role as I don't have any acting experience. Mark believed in me and with his encouragement and direction, I just didn't want the play to end because I had caught the acting bug! Kevin Tree, another director who was in the audience, spoke to me after the show and offered me a part in his production "Children of Eden" playing Eve. This play changed a lot of things in my life and to you also Kevin Sharpe, thank you very much! You are such a funny guy, I love you.
Now to bring you up to date in 2006 I joined the Alex Wilson band - www.alexwilson.net - which I am thoroughly enjoying. I can't salsa quite yet but hey I get to practise my Spanish. Alex has mixed together all different types of music from around the world and put them together on the new album "Inglaterra" - bhangra, soul, salsa & reggaeton. If you like the kind of music that puts a smile on your face then press play.Have a Sunshine day & thank you for stopping by..............
