SUDHA's first solo album, 'Anti-freeze' - pre release copies out now following years of touring, playing live and collaborating with the cream of British music talent. Her music pulls together a unique mix of influences that will mix together to form the soundtrack to a life of the first female British-Indian drummer to make it in pop. Drawing on her roots in Indian, Cuban and electronic beats, Sudha's album is a veritable melange of influences and the most contemporary electronically produced sounds.For 10 years, Sudha's cheeky, glittery presence has been a fixture in the Faithless live band multi-million album selling and critically acclaimed as the best live dance band around. She's played in the mainstream with artists like DIDO and KYLIE, and with more kooky bands like the acid jazz band CORDUROY and the amazing soul singer CARLEEN ANDERSON. For some, Sudha is best known as one of the first proper live club percussionists, with long standing residencies at both Cream and the Hacienda back in the day. She has played alongside most of the worlds most renowned DJs during the peak years of the house music explosion.
Her talents have since taken her around the world and opened the door to a multitude of influences. Early on, she developed a passion for Cuba; it's rhythms and it's people, and she went there in the 90's to connect with the music scene, ending up playing with some of the best musicians in Havana. Sudha's Indian roots are equally influential and she has been a pioneering personality in the British-Asian music scene. She was a founder member of the groundbreaking SISTER INDIA project and toured Brazil with internationally renowned TALVIN SINGH.
However, it is with FAITHLESS that she has been expressing most of her creative energy. Part of the Cheeky stable producer ROLLO's empire of looping beats and pizzacato strings - since '97 she was there when DIDO recorded her first demo and can be heard on both of her albums. Sudha's toured the world with FAITHLESS four times and played hundreds of phenomenal gigs. She's played LIVE-8 with an audience of billions, was helicoptered onto stage with the band in Norway and froze her eyelashes with them in minus 30 degrees in Lapland!
Sudha's new solo work comes from an original standpoint in the music industry - a pioneering presence in clubland and the British-Indian landscape, a respected and admired musician - she's lived it, loved it and now she's going to share it.
