Brother Sun met Sister Moon

I have decided to rename my personal page name (after it got wiped out...somehow!)'Brother Sun met Sister Moon'... I have just completed the second song as I write this, from the new album I have started to make, (Brother Sun met Sister Moon).I had the music finished,but not the words.While I was in the studio,putting down the basic instrumentation, these words just popped into my head...Brother Sun, Sister Moon...It was really quite simple but, it definately felt as though I had been impressed....Before not very long the words to the song began to formulate, and I was getting a clearer picture about what these words might imply in their symbolic meaning.Now that the song is finished and I can sit back and look at them, it has become quite obvious that they are quite autobiographical. It is like this in the sense that the major part of my 'Self' that seemed to have something lacking over the years, had been somewhat void in the area of having a real connection with the Earth, a true love affair with Nature, and a kind of suppression of my inner child, my innocence, and the more playful jokey side of my innate character.I knew it was there,latently, because I remember feeling like that in my early childhood.However after the age of about six I went through a very traumatic period, due mainly to my troubled father's mental health, and financial difficulties.There is absolutely no praise or blame in this statement, he died about 9 years ago now...and I fully forgave him, and feel that I have mostly healed that part of my scarred psyche.Working with and teaching the thousands of children that I now do each year (in drumming workshops) has definately gone towards helping that healing....(I have refound my inner child..Thank God!).As a result of this difficult childhood that I had, my dear Mother also suffered greatly during this period, and this was also partly responsible for my disassociation from feminine nurturing energy.No praise or blame here either. I did a little research and found out that of course 'Brother Sun Sister Moon, are found in one of St. Francis of Assisi's poems, and it was the name of the famous film about his life made by Franco Zefferelli.I have very deep distant memories of being a Sun Worshiper,in some ancient time, almost as if it was archetypal, and as though I did it in another lifetime....Of course the Sun is synomonous with 'Male' energy. I feel I have spent a lot my life reaching for the trancendental, or the Light,(The Sun) which was genuine and sincerely motivated...however it has meant that a lot of my life has been rather out of balance, and it is only in the more recent years, that I have been reconnecting with the Earth, the Great Mother , and Feminine energy..The Moon .Now my life seems to have become in much better allignment.I do honestly believe that we cannot be 'Whole'without our feet being firmly connected with the Earth and it's energy (to ground us)and by being 'Here' and 'Now' in the moment.This is both feeling bodily present, as well as being focussed in our minds(or souls)in what we are experiencing right in the eternal now.Our lives become timeless,peaceful, and quite thoughtless....(Thank you Krishnamurti and Zen for that insight)I feel this is the best way to live out our lives, and with a rememberence of our connection with the divine, we have a perfect formulae for... contentedness and happiness. A lot of modern day living seems to be about 'escaping' from the pain and difficulty of Life, through drugs, entertainment, and the sex-go-round, of experience, with a lack of attention to our lives within, or to our inner being ,and our dream world.Life is difficult, and a challenge, and these are the goads for us to move forwad, onward and upward,...the 'FIRE' of experience.....notsomething to escape from or to be avoided. This split, of within and without, is somethimg which needs healing, and in my own experience it has been very much to do with bringing Positive and Negative, Male and Female ,and Sun and Moon together in a more perfect union.Hence ....Brother Sun met Sister Moon!
