Before you panic and go hide your stash! Take it easy, The Sniffer Dogs ain't gonna bust your arse. They're gunna move it.
So now we got things straight! You might wanna know a little bit about the band. They're a reggae, dub and soul outfit from Bondi Beach. They got together as 3 friends from three different parts of the world, coming together on the beaches in Australia. Christian (drums), is the local, Irishman Notch is the bass player and Englishman James plays guitar, melodica and sings. After 3 years as a three peice, close friend of the band, John Sox (also of the Ras Gong Guerillas and formerly National Pornographic) was enlisted, on percussion to make up the band's forth member! Another 6 months down the line and the boys are in their element and just lovin' it!!
2007 was a big year, with a three massive headline shows at the basement but also saw the band grow towards the festival scene with apperances at the Newtown Festival, love Jam, blue earth day, beat that give back and High and Dry (after the peat's ridge was cancelled) to name just a few! The biggest thing, however, would have to be when, last summer, the Doggie's single 'Muma dont like it' got picked up by Radio and in particular, Triple J!! It was a perfect track for summer with its cruisey laid back vibe, infectious melodies and super hooky chorus!!
This year the boys have another summer offering...a single off their soon to be released new recording...Singing on the Dance Floor! Singing On The Dance Floor is one of the strongest tracks off the new 6 track ep 'Money', recorded and mixed over october/november 2007 by Jorden Brebach at Sound Level Studios (who has also work extensively with The Church). The new cd is due to be released on saturday 9th feb at sydney's renowned venue 'The Basement'.
The Doggies are hoping its going to be as well received as Muma Dont Like It and once again hit the national airwaves!!
Live, The Sniffer Dogs are captivating and up beat, they haven't forgotten why they started..... to have fun, and u'll feel it too!!
