About Me

Hey Y'all,
We will definitely have more information on this real soon. For right now, Syracuse Jericho, is hooking up with the Syracuse Solidarity Network and Food Not Bombs Syracuse, to kick off something special for 2008. On Saturday, January 26th, we will be screening the newly released Assata Shakur video (http://www.happybirthdayassata.org/sales.html)
Food Not Bombs is going to be kicking it off at 6PM with free vegan food for us all!
After our bellies are full, we'll kick it off with the video screening, maybe a discussion afterwards, and we are all writing atleast one political prisoner a letter before we leave. We will bring the pens, paper and addresses and yo do the rest.
Donations will be taken at the door.
Feel free to repost this heads up, but be sure to repost when we have all information solidified!

The Syracuse Chapter of the Jericho Movement began in winter of 2005 by a group of people fighting political repression and supporting political prisoners.
Jericho is a movement with the defined goal of gaining recognition of the fact that political prisoners and prisoners of war exist inside of the United States despite the United States governments continued denial. Winning amnesty and freedom for these political prisoners is a pressing issue. This historical and contemporary paradigm encourages us to continue educating people about the existence of these political prisoners.
At the present time there are Jericho Organizing Committees operating in California, New York, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Italy and with regional committees functioning across the country. Jericho is working with local defense committees to bring the cases of Individual political prisoners to the public. Strengthening relationships across organizational lines is what Jericho is about.

Critical Resistance

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

The Jericho Movement would like to meet people interested in addressing our four principal issues: 1. Building the Amnesty Campaign: A big part of this work is locating political prisoners, compiling information them and building the case for amnesty. 2. Continuing the Educational Campaign: About the Existence of Political Prisoners inside the U.S. 3. The Jericho Legal Defense Fund: Providing supportive expenses for lawyers and law students in order to provide legal defense for political prisoners. 4. The Jericho Medical Project: Fighting for adequate and quality medical care for political prisoners. How Can You Help? Organize speaking engagements about political prisoners in your religious and/or educational institution. Volunteer to work on one of the projects of the Jericho Movement. Organize a Jericho Committee in your area. Make a financial contribution to the Syracuse Jericho Movement.
