About Me

The Los Angeles Anarchist Black Cross formed in January 1998 by members of the Alternative Gathering Collective, Black Star Collective and the Whittier Chapter of Food Not Bombs. By October of the same year, the Los Angeles organization became a chapter of the Anarchist Black Cross Federation. The aim of the Federation is to focus on the overall support and defense of Political Prisoners (PPs) and Prisoners of War (POWs) in the United States. Our main vehicle for monetary support is the Warchest program. Since it's inception in 1994, we have raised $46,500 for various PPs/POWs. The ABCF is a non-profit, membership organization with chapters both in the United States and Canada, in solidarity with autonomous Anarchist Black Cross collectives and networks internationally. For more information, please visit our local website http://www.abcf.net/la and our Federation website http://www.abcf.net

My Interests

1) The Update Publication - This publication is distributed to anyone interested in recieving a copy for $1 and free to prisoners. The Update includes reports about each chapter of the Federation and the Warchest program, International News, Prisoner News and articles. Our chapter is responsible for it's design/layout, production and mailing. 2) The Table - We run a distribution table that you might see at cultural/political events throughout Los Angeles. We offer free and "for sale" pamphlets, books, fliers, films and wearables relative to the PPs/POWs we support, as well as the movements they come from. We also make an attempt to carry items that prioritize struggles for queer and trans liberation, anti-racism, radical feminism, socialism, anti-authoritarianism, revolutionary working class movements, etc. The funds from the table are primarily for the Warchest, individual PPs/POWs and maintaining the table itself. 3) Running Down The Walls - This is an annual run we organize, which has raised over $2,000 for the Warchest and other projects initiated by LA-ABCF. In the first several years, runs have taken place in prisons and other cities in solidarity with the run here in L.A. The run has been an excellent tool for organizing and expanding membership. Prisoners such as Bill Dunne and Jaan Laaman have played an active role in helping us with these runs, as well as individuals like Sara Jane Olson, prior to her sentencing, having participated in the 2001 run. The next run is scheduled for September 8, 2007. For more information, please view our site ar : www.abcf.net/la 4) Writing Prisoners - Each member of the collective is obligated to maintain relationships with Political Prisoners through letters, phone calls, and/or potential visits. Please go to http://www.abcf.com for a list of Political Prisoners in the U.S., their current addresses and short biographies, if you wish to write them.
