About Me

Philadelphia Advocates for Animals (PAFA) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization based in and around the Philadelphia area. PAFA is dedicated to protecting the rights of all animals through public demonstration, education, and outreach events. Founded in 2005, PAFA is composed of a number of hardworking volunteers, who donate their time and effort to bring forth justice for animals in need.
PAFA is constantly working on new campaigns under the main principle that man does not hold dominion over animal. These campaigns include getting foie gras out of Philadelphia's restaurants, closing fur stores, educating the public about vivisection & what alternatives are available, informing the public of the cruelties involved in the circus, explaining the significance of adopting & "fixing" companion animals, and extensive education regarding veganism, among others.
Baning foie gras in Philadelphia
PAFA has been working hard and holding demonstrations and outreach events since September 2005 for our Philadelphia Foie Gras Free campaign. Thus far, we have had multiple restaurants drop foie gras, after learning of the inherent cruelty involved in it's production. These restaurants include Rouge, Django, Next, Brasserie Perrier, and Susanna Foo.
A bill has been proposed by Jack Kelly in the Philadelphia Council to ban the sale of foie gras. This will be voted upon this September. Please contact us if you live in Philadelphia, and would like to voice your support to help make this crucial bill happens.
