Michael W. Allen - BIOGRAPHY: It is almost a cliché to
say, but like many drummers before him, Michael Allen
began his relationship with the drums by banging away
on his mother's pots and pans on the kitchen floor at
the age of 6. To keep Michael's percussive violence
under control, his parents invested in the first of
four small drumkits, which he quickly beat to a pulp
while playing along to Kiss' "Alive" album. Finally,
his folks bought him a real kit, and shortly
thereafter, he met Holiday Childress in 6th grade band
class. Michael's style of drumming grew at the same
rate as Holiday's guitar playing. In the late 1980's,
they found a bass player and guitarist Robin Finck
(formerly of Nine Inch Nails, currently of Guns N
Roses ) to form their band Sik Dik. Sometime in 1993,
Sik Dik dissolved and The Goodies were born!!! Allen
and Childress recruited bassist Patrick Kelly, and the
rest is history. In 1996, Michael reunited with one of
his former band- mates, playing a high-profile show
with Dee Snyder (Twisted Sister), Twiggy Ramirez
(Marilyn Manson), and Robin Finck (Nine Inch Nails)
for a sold-out MTV concert at The Rock Ridge Saloon in
New York City, NY. Constantly seeking to progress his
band's sound, Michael always listens to what and how
Holiday sings, continually looking to accent the
singer's lyrical rhythm. Bassist Patrick Kelly once
told Michael that he "plays the same way that Edgar
Allan Poe writes a lot of his poetry, accented and
very lyrical." Subtle, dynamic, and always challenging
himself, Michael is the foundation of the group. As
someone in the band Cream once said while referring to
their own drummer Ginger Baker, "A band is only as
good as its drummer." In addition to his work with The
Goodies, Michael has also recorded a solo album and
scored the soundtracks for the 2003,04,05,06,07 and
2008 Netherworld Haunted House events, Now available in stores and online. The
Netherworld is one of Atlanta's largest haunted houses
and has been voted the nation's Number 1 Haunted Attraction by
HauntWorld magazine. In Oct. 2007 his music was used for The Travel Channels Special on Haunted Attractions. Always looking to do session work
as a drummer, Michael recently cut the drum tracks to
Patrick Kelly's (The Goodies) new and
soon-to-be-available album, as well as Andy Lehman's
and William Gibbs respective solo albums, both to be
available in 2008. He has done work for a
soundtrack for "The Wrath", a film by Bertie Higgins
to debut in 2008 (www.vtfilms.com/ "THE WRATH").
Michael has also worked with solo artist
James Hall on an album due in September 2008, and
has worked with solo artist Heather Luttrell on live show dates. Michael is currently working with "The Ultimate Metal Band" VAINGLORY. Recording a new album in February and due in 2008. Michael Allen was born,
raised, and still resides in Atlanta, Georgia. He is
constantly writing and recording for himself, as well
as, for independent films and always pushing his
drumming skills in every project he is involved with
to the maximum. Get MySpace Layouts from nUCLEArcENTURy .COM OR create your own using MySpace profile editor !!!
