Ocho Rios in Jamaica has some beautiful crystal blue waters. Once while there I rode too far offshore on a huge water trike. Noticing the waves taking me further out, I turned around, fervently peddling until eventually, and I do mean eventually reaching the shore. The gentle wafting of the waves going towards the great horizon flows much easier than returning to shore. Whew! ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------Continuing my adventures near Dunns River Falls, while descending and landing on a dock ending a breath taking Para-Sail thru the Caribbean skies, a wind picked up the chute and seemingly rather quickly took my course away from the dock creating a spiraling wrap of the lines around my arms & upper body tangling me while temporarily altering my full aquatic skills as me and the lines and the chute dropped from the sky into those beautiful crystal blue waters. I'm supposing it's happened before because again "seemingly" rather quickly a couple of Jamaican locals jumped in helping me untangle the lines...was glad to get outta that one. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------- Back in the USA while riding my motorcycle one rainy night on a Los Angeles expressway, I didn't see the semi in front of me until it whooshed up 10 feet in front of my front rim, which of course I then tried to avoid sliding like a metal meat soufflee into the truck as I swerved over a bump in the road turning out to be one of those little few inch or so high exit ramp concrete dividers. While losing control of the bike as it shook & quivered promising to throw me all over the pavement, suddenly, at the last moment I thought riding would be no more, the bike straightened up & carried me right along as if long arms & training wheels had suddenly been applied. I slowed to a stop with an under the breath, "Whew", and a prayer of gratitude, then cruised on the remaining 10 miles to my destination in the rain...safely. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------- What does this have to do with music media/band details? Aside from the obvious elements of love/hate/social relationships that often fuel the crux of a "song", other kooky outta control situations certainly earn a right to be acknowledged in tunage. So I'm working on composing aural works heralding the irony of near non human existance, but wait...that's kinda like a love song, isn't it? ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------I hear lotsa love songs when I'm working my air personailty job as DJ at one of the coolest classic rock terrestrial radio stations around, and in between playlist duties, weather, news & listener phone calls, I can sometimes compose skeleton tracks in my mind that eventually become part of my original greatest hits collection...in my mind...so far!
