Eleven Twenty-One

About Me

..

Eleven Twenty-One has been the working name for material generated by Jeff Adams for over twenty-five years. The band originated in New York City in 1976 with James Hellman on bass guitar and bass pedals, Fred Maher on drums and percussion Jeff Adams guitars and vocals and Michael Beinhorn ..boards, mini moog and mellotron. At the time the band shared studio space with Jason Flom (Virgin/Atlantic Records) and his band.
Martin Bisi successful in his own right working with Sonic Youth, Swans, Dresden Dolls, White Zombie, John Zorn, Iggie Pop and lots of newer up and commers was an integral part of the band for three years as was Frank Levi of Yessongs fame.
Fred and Michael moved onto work with Bill Laswell and Material, David Allen and Gong, Lou Reed and many other legendary artists and have taken their careers into interesting and successful directions.
Joseph Trump played drums for the band for four years and is considered by all to be the main drummer for Eleven Twenty-One. As a member of such diverse groups as Carlos Alomar/Robin Clark Project, Elliott Sharp's Carbon, Boodlers, and Terraplane, Martin Atkin's Pigface, and Brian Brain; Susan McKeown's Chanting House; King Black Acid and many, many others too numerous to mention, bridging a span from punk to industrial to jazz and he has toured and recorded extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, and Japan. He is currently a member of the Tokyo based group Kazutoki Umezu's KIKI Band
Fred went on to play with Richard Hell and the Voidoids and then Scritti Politti in 1984 and a number of other collaborations putting out many interesting, ground breaking Grammy Award winning albums as well as producing numerous artists. Freds recent credits include a 6.1 surround mix of The Crystal Methods Legion of Boom as well as digital editing and data management on recent releases by Korn, Fuel and Ice Cube.
Michael Beinhorn (Material, Gong et. al) is a Grammy Award winning producer having worked with Herbie Hancock, Soundgarden, M Manson, Hole, Korn, Soul Asylum, Mew.The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Ozzy just to name a few and is one of the most In-Demand Producers in the industry.
James Hellman currently is a top notch stage manager for basically, anyone you can name. His work with Yes, Genesis, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, The Police, The Who, Carly Simon, James Taylor, Alanis Morisette, 11:21, Living Colour, Billy Idol, Billy Joel,Rush, Dave Mathews, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Vernon Ried, Steve Stevens, Brian May and countless others fill out his resume. He is now producing and will have a few new artists in his corral soon. His new material is under my first friend, "Destination Unknown"
There have been other incarnations of 11:21 including members Scott Weinberg, and Chris Peterson on drums at different periods and Gordon Cohen and Mitch Gelber ..boards.
Jeff has taken the time to raise a family in Michigan, He is coming out of self-induced exile to put his material where it belongs. In front of the masses! He says, “I may just be another guy with a guitar and some tunes but this stuff is different, it needs to be heard.”
His style is reminiscent of where progressive rock started and what it can become or still go, and he maintains a deep and personal relationship with his audience through his songs. His playing is very identifiable as when you hear the beginning of an 11:21 song, you know its Jeff.
He is currently working on new material and will have an album out at in '08 on an as yet determined record label .. On 11:21 he states, “It’s a powerful number. Once you become aware of the number it will be with you for the rest of your life.” Some say it has angelic leanings, I say, experience it and you tell me!” ..
