GET READY FOR AN HISTORY LESSON ON HOW ACOUSTIC STORIES BEGAN
Acoustic Stories started out back in '95 when Chris and some newly made "friends"in Cleveland Ohio, ran up a bar tab so big, that he had to come back the very next night and play for free......that lasted for 87 weeks(those"friends" kept drinking each gig , so he had to keep on coming back!)
Then things got so busy that he sent for his old protege Bobby (now known as The Reverend Dead Bob) from Michigan to come down and help him out. Some 200 gigs later and with lots of memories behind them Bob needed to move back home to Mich. so the band lay dorment for years....Until..... Chris hooked up w/ Joshua Aaron (Stealing Heather/Rosenbergs) They went on to preform hundreds of shows as they labored in the studio as S.H.. They played all over the metro Cleveland area for the next few years.......until......
Chris moved back to his hometown Detroit in '05 , found Dead Bob and hit the ground running and playing every open mic coffee house and bar that would pay 'em , feed 'em or de-thirst 'em!!!!!
Then one fatefull evening in May of '05 (while looking for the vices mentioned above) the duo came across a trio that were playing at some local watering hole. Bob and Chris were convinced they had to "BORROW"(read ~ steal) the 75 pound lead singer and her 6 foot 13 inch percussionist. Together Maria Wade, Delaney Ragland, Chris St.Onge & Robert Wright took the Metro Detroit area by storm. Performing over a hundred shows in less than a years time... puting a new face on "Acoustic rock". From private parties to concert halls, coffee houses to football fields, bars that were only elbow room to clubs you couldn't find the restrooms in, they never turned down a gig. From Cleveland to Chagrin Falls,Ohio; & all over the Detroit metro area! They brought their three distinctive voices, two virtuosic guitars & dynamic rhythms.....blended them into a gumbo of classic rock,soul,blues,latin/jazz,funk & country and have been pleasing crowds ever since.....until.....
The Rev. Dead Bob left the band to form his own Rock-n-roll ministry. The trio never missed a beat, when long time friend Andy Gagnon, filled in for a few gigs and became a permanent member in Feb.'06. Adding a new voice in the band to complete the three part harmonies and add a special kind of humor to the show, Acoustic Stories was now busier than ever. They're scheduled to play almost every day during the summer with sometimes two gigs in one day!Until...Andy decided to put his old band back together and do his own thing,so once again the band had to find a replacement guitarist/singer! They found one in the shape & sound of Mike Thomas.Mike was back from the road with his band PBM(they were on N.B.C's America's Got Talent) and he wanted to pick-up a few acoustic gigs, here and there.....Ha!!!! We helped him out(with like 50 or so)!Every once in a while, when PBM has gigs around the country, we get a few other players to sit in,friends like Mark Marshall,Geoff Richardson,Sean Z, & even guitarist in abox (Chris's special little pedal that play loops behind him)Whatever the situation calls for this band can pull it off without breaking a sweat! They're busier than ever with the buzz around them picking up and the the new found celebrity status they inherited....They're the next big thing! You're bound to run into them if you just leave your house once in a while. So look 'em up , you're sure to have a good time!!!!!!!!!! Check out the video and the dates listings to see what all the fuss is about. They are, with no doubt, one of the must see's in Detroit entertainment!!!
