Born and raised in Upper Montclair, Meg moved to Manhattan's Upper East Side at age twelve with her family. During her teen years in the city, Meg performed with numerous bands and rehearsed at Daily Planet Studios for several years with some of NYC's creme de la creme of the '70's and '80'... talent who later went on to become notable professionals, such as Fred Maher, drummer of Scritti Politti and Lou Reed fame, Michael "Billy" Beinhorn, keyboard player for Herbie Hancock who later came to produce Red Hot Chili Peppers and other well known bands...and Martin Bisi, musician and producer for Sonic Youth, etc., ... Meg and these musicians were all originally brought together in the early to mid '70's by Jeffrey Adams, founder of 11:21. Other musicians & performers Meg worked with in that era include Joe Trump, Michael Delcioppo, Bruce Feniger, Jacques Torchon, Mel Flowers and Laurent de Wilde. Additionally, she performed open-mic nights at famous locales like Catch A Rising Star and The Improv. This young group of aspiring musicians and producers attended the Schaefer Music Festival concerts in Central Park throughout the 1970's, learning much about the art of live performance at these historic shows that ran three nights a week season after season. They frequented CBGB's, The Bitter End, Max's Kansas City and The Bottom Line virtually every weekend for the best part of the decade and often found themselves in the company of performers such as Lou Reed, Debbie Harry and The Ramones after the shows, gaining an inside view to the business and the lifestyle. Eventually Meg and her friends performed on those stages and on other stages all over the city, employing all they'd learned from immersing themselves in New York's music scene. They wrote, produced and starred in a cable TV variety show which aired on Manhattan's first cable television company, TelePrompter Cable. The show was called 'The Mel Flowers Power Hour' and the few episodes they filmed continued to air for several years. Meg left NYC and moved to New Orleans with musician friends, performing in the French Quarter nightly, before settling again back East. *********************************** In more recent years, Meg Patrick has balanced music with a career in media sales, advertising, marketing & PR alongside raising her three amazing children. Meg assisted with the World Trade Center 9-11 Restoration Team on Project Communications for 2 years and worked steadily in advertising in midtown for several years. Fortunate enough to have recently performed in NYC with esteemed pianist and composer Tom Nelson and appearing with the renowned Allen Farnham (accompanist for Liza Minnelli), Meg has performed at Danny's Skylight piano bar and at the University Club in NY. On the NJ side of the river, Meg has performed at Church Street Cafe, Montclair Center Stage, Trumpets Jazz Club, Tierney's Tavern and Outpost In The Burbs where she served with the founding committee on the original Board of Managers. Working with the team to develop Outpost during its first several years was a most rewarding experience. Meg remains a member of the Outpost Board of Directors, Emeritus. Playing the NYC area venues with local greats such as Ray Siegener, Michael Delcioppo, Bru Rossman, Michael Williams and other area musicians allows for numerous opportunities to bring their varied, yet cohesive, audiences together again and again. Recording her CD "One Meg of Memory" at Studio 415 with producer of note, Paul G. Barton, is an ongoing labor of love. Meg is currently collaborating with Diana Liddy and Stacie Adams Levy on new material which will be posted here soon for your listening pleasure. Meg has also collaborated with her guitarist - bassist son, Alex, who is a member of Forever Stark, a band that has performed at CBGB's, The Knitting Factory, Festival Underground, Serendipity Cafe and many a house party.
