Note from Bill:
Larval was formed when in 1995, Bill Brovold and Erik Gustafson from Blue Dog, met and showed each other some ideas, ranging from country to avant jazz. Soon Beth Wilusz (gtr), Dean Western (bass) and Wil Osler(drums) joined forming the core of the band. There were frequent appearances by Johnny Evans(saxes) and Mary Alice(violin).
The band kind of imploded or disintegrated in 1998 and was rebuilt from the ashes, with only Brovold left from the original line-up.
Although happily on several occasions Brovold, Gustafson, Wilusc, Evans, Mary Alice and Western still get together in different incarnations and do projects together.
The next lineup was : Brovold, Toby Summerfield gtr, Josh Tillingast bass, Colin Stetson saxes, (all from Ann Arbor's then happening avant scene, which the powers that be have since squished), Marko Smith on Drums and Mike Smith (no relation) on violin.
The lineup at this point started changing on a rapid and regular basis as so many artists left Detroit. So here is some of the people that have played in the band. Some many times, some once.
