About Me

The Belfry Center for Social and Cultural Activities is a collectively run community space in Minneapolis that began as a collaboration between the Bat Annex Free School, Daybreak Newspaper, and local radical artists.
We put on DIY art and music, as well as educational events. For bands interested in booking, just contact us through myspace.
Our mission is to foster democracy and build community through the arts, activism, media, and education.
Our vision is to provide space, resources, and encouragement to its core members, as well as providing an open space for groups and individuals from the wider community. Although many of our guiding principles, including direct democracy, a non-hierarchical structure, and consensus, can be described as anarchist, the Belfry Center is not by anarchists - for anarchists. We encourage the participation of as many members of as many communities as possible, but especially those whose pursuits are pro-democracy, pro-peace, queer friendly, anti-racist, anti-sexist, and generally friendly.
We are currently only open to the public 2pm-8pm on Sundays and during special events. But please stop by to check out our growing book, zine, and resource library, use our sewing machines and art supplies, or just hang out!
The Belfry Center is located at 3753 Bloomington Ave. S in Minneapolis.

Help us pay our rent and keep our space running!
