Established in 2003, Ballet Deviare is the first and only ballet company born out of heavy metal/extreme music. Ballet Deviare specifically utilizes the musical genres of death, doom and grind metal. This is demonstrated not only in the musical composition but can also be illustrated within the choreography and overall philosophy of the company. Fusing "high art" and extreme music together.
Ballet Deviare's mission is prompted by the fundamental desire to modify and expand the severe restrictions of ballet as an institution and to further legitimate heavy metal/extreme music as an art form. We seek to break down the stereotypes commonly associated with both art forms by comprehensively fusing them together. The company also strives to cultivate and establish new audiences and to grant expanded artistic opportunities for talented dancers and choreographers.
