About Me

After 20 1/2 years of national and international touring, one "The Simpsons" appearance and two Grammy awards later all while in the rocking polka band Brave Combo, Bubba Hernandez set out to see what else there is in the world of music performance. In January of 2005, with the integral help of friend and keyboardist/vocalist David De La Garza of La Mafia, he founded Los Super Vatos which gained traction rather quickly and is currently performing its Cumbia Rockin' Tex-Mex R&B Grooves around Texas and neighboring states. The band's start was based on music from a collection of recordings Bubba had started in January of 2003 mixing old school funk and various forms of cumbia. This album is tentatively titled Super Vato-Love and Drama. It is bilingual Spanish and English and at times in Spanglish.Bubba also has a polka project with the working title Polka Freak Out with Alex Meixner. In this project Bubba fuses Alex, an accordionist from Pennsylvannia who plays a variety of eastern european styles with Conjunto, Tejano and Tex-Mex Rock.There is also an EP of Los Super Vatos in the works as well.Bubba Hernandez loves collaborating and is open to suggestions and invitations by contact at this site.
